Car park dings, kerb-rashed wheels, a scraped bumper or a key scratch along the door don't have to mean days without your car. Rapid Smart Repairs is a mobile repair service. We come to your driveway or work car park anywhere across Sydney and fix cosmetic damage on-site. We bring our own power and water, so all we need is space to park the van near your car. Send us a few photos for a free quote, and we'll tell you honestly whether your car suits a mobile repair.
What is a SMART repair?
SMART stands for Small to Medium Area Repair Technique. Instead of respraying a whole panel or replacing a part, a SMART repair fixes only the damaged area. The damage is prepared, filled or reshaped where needed, then colour-matched and blended into the surrounding paint so the repair is hard to spot.
Because the work is limited to a small area, it can be done on-site with mobile equipment rather than in a spray booth. It suits the everyday damage most cars pick up:
- key scratches, scuffs and paint chips
- car park dings and minor panel dents, which we repair and refinish
- scuffed, scratched, cracked or pushed-in plastic bumpers
- kerb rash and scratches on alloy wheels
- cloudy or yellowed headlights
SMART repair vs a body shop
A body shop usually means dropping the car off, organising a lift or a hire car, and waiting days to get it back. Larger jobs often involve repainting whole panels or replacing parts. A mobile SMART repair comes to you. The repair is limited to the damaged area, and the usual repair time is 1 to 2 hours. Most jobs are done the same day, and you can drive away as soon as we're finished. Wait 24 hours before washing so the paint can fully cure.
Mobile repair isn't right for everything. Structural or collision damage, very sharp creases, stretched metal, dents on panel edges or body lines, long or multiple cracks in a bumper, and cracked or bent rims may need a panel or wheel shop. If that's the case, we'll tell you from your photos rather than recommend a repair that won't last.
What affects the cost of a repair?
We don't publish a price list, because no two jobs are the same. We quote from your photos instead. The main things that affect the cost are:
- Size and depth of the damage. A light scuff in the clear coat takes less work than a scratch through to the primer or bare metal.
- Paint colour and finish. Metallic, pearl and multi-coat colours take more care to match and blend than solid colours.
- Where the damage is and what the panel is made of. Plastic bumpers, steel panels, aluminium panels and alloy wheels each need a different approach. Damage on an edge or body line is harder to repair than damage on a flat area.
- How many panels or wheels are involved. Several areas done in one visit is usually better value than separate bookings.
- Previous repairs or DIY attempts. Touch-up pens and polishing kits sometimes need to be removed before we can start.
For minor damage, a private mobile repair often costs less than your insurance excess. Your free quote will tell you exactly what's involved before you book.
How it works
Send us clear photos. Take a few photos of the damage from different angles and send them with your car's make and model, using our quote form or by text to 0458 864 479.
Get your free quote. We assess the damage from your photos and send you a free quote. We'll also tell you if the job needs a workshop instead.
We come to you. Once you approve the quote, we book a time that suits you and repair your car at home or at work. Rain and very strong wind can affect paintwork, so we'll let you know if the weather means a job needs to be moved.

SMART repair FAQs
Do you come to my home or work?
Yes. We're fully mobile and repair your car at your home, workplace or car park anywhere across Sydney. We bring our own power and water, so we just need space to park the van near your car.
How long does a SMART repair take?
The usual repair time is 1 to 2 hours, and larger repairs can take longer. You can drive away as soon as we're done, but wait 24 hours before washing so the paint can fully cure.
Is a mobile repair as good as a body shop?
For small to medium cosmetic damage, yes. We repair only the damaged area, then colour-match and blend it into the surrounding paint. If your car needs structural work or a full panel replacement, we'll tell you from your photos that a body shop is the better option.
What can't you fix on-site?
Structural or collision damage, very sharp creases, stretched metal, dents on panel edges or body lines, long or multiple cracks in a bumper, and cracked or bent rims may need a workshop. We'll let you know from your photos.
What does the 5-year warranty cover?
Our 5-year warranty covers repair work: dents, scratches, bumpers, wheels and headlights. Paint protection and detailing are not covered.
Which areas do you cover?
We cover all of Sydney, including Penrith, Blacktown and Campbelltown. We also visit Canberra every month or two for repairs, so get in touch and we'll book you into our next trip.
